THE BULLFIELDS CENTRE

The
Centre is open to young people up to the age of 21 years.
It was left in trust to the young people of Sawbridgeworth by Sir Arthur
Cutforth in 1933 for the benefit of children of the parish of Sawbridgeworth in
perpetuity.
The land comprises four and a half acres.
The
field and Centre building is managed by a Management Committee appointed by and
answerable to the Town Council.
There
is a good range of play equipment, catering for three age groups from the
toddler to the teenager, much of which has been recently installed with grants
from several organisations including East Hertfordshire District Council, the
Town Council, the Network Fund, Awards for All and Stansted Airport fund.
This area of the field is very well used by all age groups and the new
seating has been much appreciated by parents visiting the field with their
children. Following consultation with the young people a chat room was recently
placed on the field for the older teenagers.
There
are two football pitches, one for the younger age group up to 13 years and the
other pitch for those up to 21 years of age. Both boys and girls play their
football on these pitches with the groundsman from the Sawbridgeworth Town
Football Club giving his time on a voluntary basis to ensure their upkeep to a
playable standard.
The
Centre itself was mainly funded by East Hertfordshire District Council and is
available to hire for activities for young people.
There is currently a Pre-school group using it in the day time with a
Youth group, dancing class and Karate groups
